Gmail 550 5.7.26: This message does not have authentication information
22 October 2026
Google rejects or heavily restricts mail that claims a domain in From without usable SPF/DKIM authentication—especially for bulk senders and domains that lack DMARC. The bounce cites 550 5.7.26 and authentication information.
Resolution flow
- Identify the exact From domain in the failed message (not only the envelope Mail-From).
- Run the static audit on that domain. Fix missing SPF, missing DKIM selectors, and missing DMARC first.
- Publish SPF that authorizes the sending infrastructure (Google Workspace, SES, SendGrid, …).
- Publish DKIM for that sender and ensure the signature’s
d=aligns with the From domain (relaxed or strict per DMARC). - Publish DMARC with at least
p=noneand a workingrua. Bulk senders toward Gmail should plan enforcement. - Retract any forwarding path that breaks DKIM without ARC if you control the forwarder.
- Resend a test to a Gmail address; read Authentication-Results on the delivered copy.
Common root causes
- Marketing ESP sends as
brand.examplebut DKIM still signs their shared domain only. - SPF PermError (too many lookups) so SPF never passes.
- DMARC absent at the organizational domain.
- From domain is a vanity domain never enrolled in the ESP.
Hosted DMARC helps you collect Google’s aggregate reports and stage policy once authentication is real—not before.
