BIMI logo not showing in Gmail or Apple Mail: SVG & VMC checklist

22 October 2026

BIMI is a hint receivers may honor after DMARC enforcement. Missing logos are usually policy, SVG profile, or certificate issues—not a broken SPF string. Free-audit findings under BIMI_* link here.

Checklist

  1. Organizational domain DMARC must be p=quarantine or p=reject with pct=100. p=none disqualifies BIMI—see the enforcement plan.
  2. If you set sp= on the org domain, it must not weaken subdomain enforcement in ways receivers treat as ineligible.
  3. Publish default._bimi.brand.example (or your selector) with v=BIMI1 and an l= https URL to an SVG Tiny PS logo.
  4. Gmail generally expects a Verified Mark Certificate URL in a=. Treat VMC as required for broad Gmail display.
  5. SVG must be square, free of scripts and external references. Sender Identity’s logo host rejects animated or non-square SVG.
  6. Use Account → BIMI preview with your SVG (and PEM if you have a VMC) for a local Gmail / Apple Mail sketch. We do not fetch remote logos or validate certificate chains.
  7. Re-run the static audit and clear BIMI_* findings before opening tickets with mailbox providers.
